Don't lose the momentum from Bootcamp!!! Sometimes we all get caught in the struggle of life so much that we lose connection with ourselves. No one is immune to stress and the curve ball that life presents to us in the least expected moments. However, preventing a health risk is much easier than curing one.
Remember how hard you have worked to get that 800m run under 5mins? Let’s keep that momentum going. Even those who were once on top of their game have to go back and reevaluate their training, such is the case of Sir Charles Barkley, who joined CrossFit North Atlanta and yes we are all so proud of him and sending wi-five his way!!! We feel your pain Sir Charles and what an inspiration to keep the momentum going.

Choosing The Right Shoes For Your Foot Type
When choosing high performance shoes there are a few suggestions that I would like to mention prior to purchase. Although style may influence you at first, long-term comfort is the best indicator when choosing the right shoes.
A good pair of shoes should support your running gait and foot type. Sporting goods stores will not ensure you with regards to your proper fitting. Visit a local sports dealer that will measure your foot-strike.
Pronation is the inward roll of your feet while supination is the outward roll of your feet. Excessive movements on either will cause strain on muscles and tendons and can pose injury.

To Bare or Not To Bare? While the marketing for Vibram Five Fingers has certainly been funneled to ‘cool’, going minimal on footprint still remains to be a personal preference. Running and shoes definitely shares mutualism; however there’s more to running than just the ‘shoes’. Historically, men have been able to run barefoot and even modern day athletes and dancers (gymnast and ballet dancers) wear no shoes or shoes with no support but the million dollar ‘cushioned shoes’ industry will happily debate that cushioned is better any day. Ultimately, it comes down to the individual’s choice.

Who's Your Buddy?
Having a support system is one of the many building blocks
in keeping your healthy lifestyle successful. A “Workout Buddy”is there to push you through when your brain tells you to stop. After all, the brain is biologically wired to keep you safe. Having a workout partner can check your form: if your elbows need to be higher or if your squat form is incorrect. Working out with a partner is a great way to keep yourself motivated. They are there to call you out on days you short change yourself of the effort. Choose a person who will listen to your concerns and feelings: your diet, your progress and/or regress. Accountability session is good. Social support can produce large and lasting gains. Your ‘buddy’ can be your confidant: spouse, best-friend, child, significant other and even your pet (your canine friend- great walking partner ) You can also find on-line support group more importanlty us at The Compound!
